Located on the site of the old Otaki Railway Bowling Club, this motel has everything a traveller needs.
There is a total of 10 units, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options, with a total capacity of 33 people. The different layouts were repeated across the building in a way that created symmetry with the exterior façade.
The concept behind the motel was for there to be no in-house managers or reception onsite - all bookings and check-ins are automated through a system developed by the owner. Guests can only book online, and are given individual access to their room.
The exterior precast walls have feature lines debossed into them that have been painted in various vibrant colours, delivering both a low maintenance solution and good street appeal.
Solar panels are used for heating the water during the day, and further sustainability measures were allowed for in the planning, for implementation at a later date.
