While the Homestead Construction name is relatively new to New Zealand’s high-density apartment construction industry, our 30+ years experience using precast concrete systems is a perfect fit. Our people excel in project management excellence and share a passion to create smarter, more efficient and cost-effective solutions to high-density and commercial construction challenges. This drives us to continuously improve our standards of excellence across the business.
Our culture of accountability and problem-solving has made us a standout construction company with many loyal clients, a wide network of like-minded suppliers, and a growing list of major projects to our name.
The Homestead story began in 1976 when Philip Lawry started Homestead Builders in Otaki. In the early days Homestead Builders was mainly contracting to Tuohy Homes building Lockwood Homes throughout the Lower North Island.
In 1985 Philip purchased his first development section to build townhouses. In the same year Philip moved his operation from Otaki up to the site in Levin that we still operate out of today.
Our first concrete home was built in 1990, due to a timber shortage at the time, and shortly after we started focus more and more on this new market. Also, up until the mid-2000's we built a lot of transportable homes.
By the late 1990's/early 2000's three of Philip's sons, Daniel, Rueben, and Jason had all joined the family business in various rolls as they learnt the trade.
In 2006 after Philip's death earlier in the year, the three brothers incorporated Homestead Concrete Homes and took on the shared ownership of the business.
The purpose-built precast factory and new office building was constructed in 2010 to increase our production capacity as the company started to focus more on multi-residential and commercial projects instead of residential houses. Because of this new focus Homestead Concrete Homes Ltd became Homestead Construction Ltd in 2017.
Throughout its 45+ year history the Homestead team has designed and built hundreds of homes and commercial premises throughout the greater Wellington region utilising the benefits of precast concrete construction systems.
